This is a family wiki under construction. There are a few public pages that you may browse (see category:public and Special:AllPages).

Wikis are great hypertext tools that let one person or a group of people manage content easily. They are used to create Websites, manage online communities, connect businesses with their customers, and even write magazines and books. Remember, the Wiki is “the simplest online database that could possibly work.”

This is our wiki that we can share with family (and friends), its easy to setup an account if you are an administrator. Just email me or use the User:Admin account. You can also enumerate the existing accounts via Special:ListUsers or use Special:RecentChanges to see who's using the wiki.

Over time I will include a Family Portal and Family Events page which will be accessible from the left menu (under the hands).

You can review page editions on the View History tab, and there is a hyperlink Special:Contributions for viewing contributed content (or in my specific case Special:Contributions/Ralph), or your case use your name.

Please do not post really big files, although the server has over 500 Gbytes of reserve, it is shared with my other wikis and repositories. If we start to run out I will need to add an external drive (or move the wiki again). I also only have a 100 GByte of Internet Allocation a month - which I can increase if necessary for a cost. Mediawiki/web-images do not need anymore than 1024 horizontal pixels, in many cases 750 px or less. Most web-media is a lot smaller in pixel extent.

The amount of media-space taken up by this wiki can be seen here Special:MediaStatistics and its remarkable compact at the time of writing. After all it is rendered as HTML with media content stored in the web-server file system. I am working on finding an extension that will inform of the total size automatically.

I believe that there is also a genealogical extension - that I should install.

Noe that I was involved in an aircraft engine out accident just after takeoff in my Mooney in 2010, as this is what could have happened; I think watching this helped saved my life because that was one of the thoughts at the time - do not spin in media:2009-02-28-mooney-engine-failure-spin-on-takeoff.mp4
