Christmas 2019 - with Tash and Steve - Hervey Bay

From family

We organised to spend Christmas with Tash and Steve at Hervey bay.

We left Canberra on Monday the 23 Dec at 0530 local time and tracked to YORG via AVBEG to refuel (expecting to be given an AVBEG 1 DEP but received a CB 9 DEP from the tower instead).

It was IMC conditions all the way to Hervey Bay flying at 8,000' to Orange to refuel, and then onwards at 9000' AMSL to YHBA; requiring an RNAV approach for YORG R11, and an RNAV Z R11 YHBA.

We did see some ground north of Mudgee.

Steve had flying duty on Monday and had organised with his boss to fly me over in the jump seat after ringing HQ to put me on the manifest. The Caravan is a smooth beast that seats 13 PAX and 1 pilot. It has a mixed bag of avionics and a KFC 150 FD auto-pilot and a storm-radar.
